How is my speed affected?

Since ADSL is based on copper technology, line speed is dependent on distance between local exchange and modem, copper quality, electromagnetic interference and weather (rain). ADSL does not offer guaranteed speed – the Internet connectivity speed is dependent on the available capacity between the DSLAM and the IP network – and utilisation thereof by the ADSL users connected at a given time. This degree of congestion determines the performance experience and actual data transfer rate at the specific time.
